FAQ

Questions, answered

Quick answers about visits, insurance, refills and more. If you don't see your question here, call 406-780-3609.

Who do you see?

Adults 18 and older who are located in Montana at the time of each visit. Many of the people I see are women, from young adults to later in life, but I welcome all adults.

What don't you treat?

I don't provide care for minors, couples or families, forensic or disability evaluations, or court-ordered treatment. If you need one of these, I'm happy to point you toward someone who can help.

Do I need to be in Montana for my visits?

Yes. You need to be physically located in Montana at the time of every visit. I'll confirm your location at the start of each appointment.

How do telehealth visits work?

You'll get a secure video link before each appointment. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, a private spot and a steady connection.

What happens at the first visit?

We'll talk about what brings you in, your history and your goals. By the end, we'll have a working diagnosis and a plan we both agree on. Before the visit, you'll complete intake forms and put a card on file.

Do you take insurance?

I'm in-network with Allegiance. Credentialing with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, Cigna and Mountain Health CO-OP is in progress, so those plans aren't in-network yet. Self-pay is welcome, and I can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. See fees & insurance.

How do I get a refill?

Request refills through the patient portal at least 3–5 business days before you run out. Refills are tied to regular follow-up visits, so keeping your appointments keeps your prescriptions on track.

How quickly will you respond to messages?

I reply to patient portal messages within 1–2 business days. Messages aren't monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call 911 or 988.

Do you prescribe controlled substances, such as ADHD medications or benzodiazepines?

Yes, when it's clinically appropriate. I decide after a full evaluation, not at the first contact or because someone asks for a specific medication.

Before prescribing, and from time to time during treatment, I check Montana's prescription drug registry. Patients who take a controlled medication sign a medication agreement and use one pharmacy. They also keep regular follow-up visits and request refills 3–5 business days ahead.

You must be in Montana at the time of each visit. Federal telehealth rules for these medications may change, and I'll let you know if a change affects your care.

Can you work with my therapist or primary care provider?

Yes. With your written permission, I'm glad to coordinate with your therapist, primary care provider, OB/GYN or other clinicians.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged a $100 fee, except in a documented emergency.

What should I do in a crisis?

If you are in crisis, call 911 or 988. This practice doesn't provide emergency or crisis services, and messages and voicemail aren't monitored around the clock.
